Titanium and its alloys
Description
Titanium is an extremely versatile metal that can provide exceptional performance in many ways, given the combination of its low specific weight, very high corrosion resistance, and the remarkable mechanical strength of most of its alloys.
Despite these promising characteristics, the possibilities for application in some industries are not yet fully exploited, partly because of the high cost, but also because of the lack of specific information and knowledge about the particular metallurgical and technological aspects related to this metal.
Thus, the course aims to provide the detailed state of the art of titanium alloy metallurgy, heat treatments, traditional and innovative processing technologies in order to be able to use this metal under the most appropriate conditions for various applications.
Course objectives
The course aims to:
- Provide the basics regarding the metallurgy of titanium alloys and the technologies applicable to them.
- Understand the relationships between microstructure and properties for the different classes into which titanium alloys are divided so that you can master informed design with this family of materials.
- Identify the correct choice of alloy and related heat treatment state according to the properties required by the specific application.
- Provide the fundamentals in the field of metallography applied to titanium for the evaluation of the state of conformity disemilavorates and products.
Target audience
The course is aimed at professionals working in industry and research, technical salesmen, Metallic Materials Testing Laboratories personnel and, more generally, figures related to Quality Control
