The hardness test measures the resistance of a material to permanent deformation when it comes into contact with an indenter under a given load.
This test is critical for predicting theeffectiveness of heat treatment, durability and wear resistance of materials, providing an essential assessment for engineering and industrial applications.

The SMT Materials Testing Laboratory has to its credit a fleet of hardness testers capable of covering the various hardness scales, thanks to the latest manual or automatic instruments. We use standardized methods such as Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers and Knoop to determine the hardness of metals.

Do you perform tests to check the depth of cementation?

Yes, we perform control for cementing depth (CHD) with our automatic microhardness meter, both Vickers and Knoop scales.

What kinds of hardness can you perform?

We can perform Vickers hardnesses from 0.25 g to 30 kg, Brinell from 6.25 kg to 187.5 kg, and Rockwell in HRA, HRBW, HRC, HR15-N/T/W/X/Y; HR30-N/T/W/X/Y scales.
