tensile test

The tensile test is a fundamental test for determining the mechanical properties of materials, such as yield strength, elongation and striation. During this test, a specimen is subjected to a tensile load until failure is reached. With our state-of-the-art equipment, we ensure accurate and reliable results, which are essential for assessing the quality and safety of materials used in various industries.

The tensile test is a test that consists of subjecting a specimen to a uniaxial F load until it fails.
This test can be performed on different types of specimen ranging from the standard sized specimen, to a part of an artifact up to the whole artifact, as in the case of chains, screws, hooks, ropes, etc.
The purpose is to determine various characteristics of the material, which mainly are breaking strength (Rm), yield strength (Rs),percent elongation (A), striation (Z) and Young’s modulus (E). It is generally performed at room temperature but some areas require testing at temperatures above or below room temperature.

The SMT Materials Testing Laboratory has a fleet of tensile machines consisting of 1 5 kN machine, 1 20 kN machine, 2 100 kN machines also equipped for hot testing and cold testing, 2 200 kN machines, 1 300 kN machine and 1 1,000 kN machine.

A large number of machines, allowing you to choose the most suitable one for testing your products, including hot (up to 900 °C) and cold (down to -140 °C).
