SPECTROMETRIC TECHNIQUES FOR THE CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF METALS
The course aims to illustrate the optical emission spectrometry technique for the characterization of metallic materials, to briefly explain its basic principles, but more importantly its application aspects, including proper sample preparation and execution of the analysis. Finally, hints on X-ray characterization and ICP. This will be followed by a practical part on a laboratory analyzer, a mobile one and a portable one.

- ASTM standards governing spectrometric chemical analysis (ASTM E415/E1086/E3047/E1251)
- Internal laboratory methods, when they are needed and what it takes to validate them
- Practical tests with stationary and portable quantometer (from linearization to analysis)
