Chemical analyses of metallic materials are used to verify the concentration of elements within the analyzed material so that certain peculiarities can be determined for future use. Corrosion tests, which are always part of the chemical analysis field, on the other hand, are necessary to assess the resistance of the analyzed material to particular chemical agents.
The chemical department of the SMT materials testing laboratory can perform spectrometric and wet chemical analysis of steels, nickel alloys, titanium, cobalt, copper and aluminum.
The corrosion department performs tests according to the most common reference standards; it also has a dedicated area for testing in H2S environment (H.I.C. and S.S.C.).
The SMT materials testing laboratory is capable of conducting about a hundred simultaneous tests with complete peace of mind thanks to the presence of particularly sophisticated safety systems.
